Having reduced a wonderful entry of 14 projects down to the three visited by the judges, a winner had to be found. Both Morland Community Hub in Highbridge and Chard Community Hub undertake extraordinary work, providing a vast range of activities, clubs and food supplies for those in need in areas of significant deprivation. However, the Alhampton Community Pub was our winner, mainly due to the ability of a small village community to come together at very short notice to take on a project that many would have shied away from. In ten months, from a completely unexpected closure to a grand reopening, a huge amount of physical and administrative work took place, including securing a 15-year lease on the property. The village now has its centre back and the pub is thriving.

This year, Morland Community Hub and Chard Community Hub were both awarded Highly Commended by the judges.
